Doctor of Optometry Opportunity | Bronx, New York
American Vision Center of East Tremont is seeking a compassionate and clinically proficient Doctor of Optometry to deliver exceptional vision and eye health care within a welcoming, community-focused practice. This opportunity is well suited for an Optometrist, OD, or eye care professional seeking to combine comprehensive clinical responsibilities with relationship-based patient care.
The selected candidate will utilize advanced diagnostic technology, address a diverse range of patient needs, and assist individuals and families in making informed decisions regarding lifelong vision health.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, refractions, slit lamp examinations, and individualized treatment recommendations for pediatric, adult, and senior patients.
- Diagnose, monitor, and manage ocular conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, and other concerns requiring thorough clinical assessment and appropriate referral.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic testing, including visual field testing, optical coherence tomography, Optomap imaging, fundus photography, pachymetry, tonometry, keratometry, and autorefractor measurements.
- Provide contact lens fittings, follow-up care, and patient education to support comfort, compliance, and optimal visual outcomes.
- Collaborate with the optical team to support lens selection and eyewear recommendations while maintaining a patient-centered and medically appropriate approach.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited optometry program.
- Active New York State optometry license.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in comprehensive eye care, including eye examinations, refraction, ocular disease assessment, and patient-centered treatment planning.
- Proficiency with diagnostic technology, including OCT, visual field equipment, applanation tonometry, lensometry, and retinal imaging tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and empathetically educate patients of all ages regarding eye health and vision care options.
- Ability to work collaboratively with optical staff and ophthalmic support professionals to ensure an attentive and efficient patient experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with a Certified Ophthalmic Technician or in a busy private-practice, retail optical, or family eye care setting.
- Experience with specialty contact lenses, contact lens fittings, pre-testing workflows, or medical optometry.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive annual salary of $150,000 to $180,000 , commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Benefits include health insurance, vacation leave, sick leave, holiday pay, and paid time off.
