ASAP Academic Advisor
** POSITION DETAILS
** ASAP helps students earn their college degrees as quickly as possible by removing many of the financial, academic, and personal barriers they may face. Key program features include cohort-based support, a requirement for full-time enrollment, and comprehensive academic advisement and career development services. Financial incentives include tuition gap awards for financial aid-eligible students, annual textbook assistance, and OMNY cards for all participants.

The ASAP Academic Advisor is a member of an integrated team that provides individualized academic, career, and related support services to an assigned group of students as they progress toward earning their associate degree. Utilizing a variety of engagement methods, the advisor works closely with students to promote academic success and degree completion. Reporting to the ASAP Director (or designee), the Academic Advisor is responsible for delivering advisement services to a designated student cohort in accordance with program policies and campus advisement standards.

The position focuses on student retention, persistence, and graduation, with the goal of retaining the maximum number of students each semester and supporting at least 50% of each cohort in completing their degree requirements. The Academic Advisor collaborates with program staff, faculty, and campus partners to provide coordinated support services and contributes to program initiatives, student recruitment, registration activities, and special events.

** Responsibilities** - Provide comprehensive academic advisement and student support services to an assigned caseload of students from enrollment through degree completion, following campus and ASAP advisement guidelines.

- Utilize campus degree maps and academic planning tools to develop semester-by-semester educational plans for first-year, continuing, and transfer students.

- Regularly monitor student academic progress and implement timely interventions to help students remain on track toward graduation.

- Document, track, and maintain accurate records of all student interactions in ASAP and college student information systems, making referrals to appropriate campus resources and services as needed.

- Generate and analyze student contact reports and outreach data to identify students requiring follow-up and ensure compliance with required communication frequency and engagement standards.

- Conduct workshops, presentations, and group advisement sessions on academic success, transfer planning, career development, financial literacy, and other topics relevant to student needs.

- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus offices to coordinate services that support student retention, engagement, and completion.

- Assist with student recruitment, registration, orientation, and other program-related activities and events.

- Support the implementation of ASAP initiatives and participate in special projects and campus-wide student success efforts.

- Perform related duties as assigned.
** QUALIFICATIONS
* * Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred in an appropriate discipline, with four years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications A master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Educational Administration, Educational Psychology, or Social Work may substitute for up to two years of the required experience. The ideal candidate will have:
Experience providing guidance, support, and services to students. Strong understanding of the educational needs and challenges facing students from diverse urban backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and detailed student records. Demonstrated skill in understanding, valuing, and respecting cultural differences. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the aptitude to learn new systems as needed. Strong organizational, collaboration, communication, and facilitation skills.

Demonstrated knowledge of equitable and inclusive advisement practices that support student success. Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and community partners to promote student engagement, retention, and achievement. Commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered environment that supports the academic and personal development of all students.
