Boys & Girls Clubs of America seeks a STEAM Lab Instructor to inspire youth through hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math activities in our Education, Training & E-Learning programs. You will design and lead engaging projects, support academic success, and foster creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration in a safe, inclusive Club environment. Partner with staff to align activities with BGCA's mission of helping young people reach their full potential.

Ideal candidates have youth-facing experience, strong classroom management, and a passion for STEAM education.

Responsibilities

  • Design and facilitate engaging STEAM activities and projects for youth in an after school Club setting
  • Create age-appropriate lesson plans that align with BGCA's focus on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character development
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and well-organized STEAM lab environment, ensuring proper use and storage of tools, materials, and equipment
  • Guide members through hands-on experiments and maker projects that build problem solving, creativity, and collaboration skills
  • Support homework help and academic enrichment with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math concepts
  • Build positive relationships with youth that foster confidence, curiosity, and respect for others
  • Manage group dynamics and behavior using positive, trauma informed strategies
  • Track youth participation, program outcomes, and project completion for internal reporting and grant requirements
  • Communicate regularly with Club staff, families, and community partners to coordinate programming and special events (e.g., showcases, fairs, competitions)
  • Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, and professional development to continuously improve instructional practice
