Acacia Network Direct Care Worker

The Direct Care Worker is required to provide direct care services to adults with developmental disabilities living independently in the organization's Independent Residential Alternative houses.

Key essential functions include performing, supervising and assisting individuals in all areas of adult daily living skills, fostering independence, personal growth and individualization, implementing programming methods based on the individuals habilitation and protective oversight plan, ensuring the overall health and safety of the individuals, providing ongoing care for the residents in a safe, kind and considerable manner, accompanying and transporting individuals to medical and other clinical appointments, maintaining a clean and sanitary residence and working environment, conducting fire drills as scheduled, maintaining the individuals clothing, furniture, any and all personal belonging in good condition, remaining on the shift until the relief arrives and the shift is appropriately covered, remaining sensitive and responsive to the needs, situation, and personal/cultural practices of the individuals, making purchases as needed or requested by the program or management team, reporting any changes regarding any individuals physical and health condition to the supervisor immediately, assisting in the orientation of new staff, safely operating agencies vehicle for residential appointments or any other individual needs which may require the utilization of the agency vehicle, reading, initialing and entering required information on the communication log as well as other documentations as required, and all other duties as requested by management.

Requirements include a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), minimum one year experience working with OPWDD individuals or other human service fields, SCIP, AMAP, First Aid and CPR - must obtain within three months from date of hire, and a valid NYS driver's license.
