Salary: $90,665.65 - $90,665.65 per year

A bit about us:

We are hiring an Occupational Therapist for a vibrant special education preschool serving children ages three to five with developmental delays and other specialized learning needs.

The school is part of a leading regional nonprofit organization operating more than 70 programs throughout New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester. Each year, the organization supports more than 35,000 adults and children through programs focused on early childhood development, homelessness, domestic violence, foster care, veterans, seniors, and other community needs.

This position is for an OT who wants to do meaningful pediatric work without being treated like a treatment machine. The daily schedule is capped at nine sessions, clinicians receive substantial protected documentation time, and the department has a large therapy gym, multiple treatment spaces, strong supplies, modern equipment, and room to introduce new ideas.

This is not one of those schools where getting a new therapy tool requires three committees, four approvals, and a carrier pigeon. When the team identifies something that could help the children, leadership is open to making it happen.

Why join us?
  • $90,665.65 annual salary for the full-time position
• A firm maximum of nine treatment sessions per day

• At least two protected hours each day for documentation, planning, assessments, and preparation

• Additional protected paperwork time of approximately two to three hours each month

• School-based hours of approximately 8:00 AM–3:30 PM

• Full-time and part-time scheduling options

• Some ability to adjust the schedule when flexibility is needed

• A 12-month position that generally follows the New York City Department of Education calendar, although certain dates may differ

• A large, state-of-the-art occupational therapy gym with additional treatment rooms

• Your own desk and dedicated space for completing documentation

• Access to excellent therapy supplies, equipment, toys, and technology

• Leadership that welcomes new treatment ideas, trainings, programs, and in-services

• A collaborative therapy department where occupational, physical, speech, educational, and behavioral professionals work together

• A paid birthday holiday

• Three conference days after successful completion of the probationary period

• Full-time medical, dental, vision, prescription, and life insurance coverage

• Full-time retirement plan and tuition reimbursement

• Full-time paid time off and additional employee benefits

• Opportunities to supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, occupational therapy students, and supporting staff

• A mission-driven environment focused on helping children facing developmental, educational, and difficult family-system challenges

Many school-based therapists have accepted overloaded schedules, rushed documentation, limited equipment, and endless administrative barriers as normal.

They are not normal. They are organizational choices.

This program has chosen to cap the daily schedule, protect documentation time, invest in clinical resources, and give therapists room to practice creatively.
