Must-Have:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing or psychiatric/behavioral healthcare in a high-volume, intensive care environment
• Graduate of a State-certified Patient Care Technician program
• Current BLS certification
• Competency in performing vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG, and blood glucose monitoring
• Ability to engage with children and adolescents in a trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate manner

Description:

The Psychiatric Technician is an integral member of the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit. This role provides direct patient care and clinical support under the supervision of registered nurses. The technician ensures safety in the unit. They engage patients in therapeutic activities and support children and adolescents with daily needs during hospitalization. The Psychiatric Technician performs clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care testing.

This role follows a trauma-informed, developmentally sensitive model of care. Completion of training in the application and use of restraints and seclusion is required. Experience in acute inpatient psychiatry or equivalent settings is preferred. Prior experience working with youth in behavioral health, educational, or residential settings is also preferred.
