A company is looking for a General Counsel to serve as the chief legal advisor on all legal matters impacting the organization.
Key Responsibilities Provide strategic legal counsel on legal and regulatory matters to the Executive Director and management team Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations while managing legal risks Advise on governance best practices and oversee contracts and external counsel relationships
Required Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction 10-15 years of progressive legal experience, including 5 years in a senior leadership role Strong understanding of nonprofit and tax-exempt law, employment law, and advocacy-related laws Experience supervising outside counsel and/or junior attorneys Proven negotiation skills and familiarity with laws governing charitable giving
