Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level 3 NICU RN for a night shift contract requiring prior Level 3 NICU experience and NY RN licensure.

  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend with some flexibility per unit needs

  • ,ept 1 holiday coverage typically required per contract
  • Primarily based in NICU with floating required to PICU, Peds (patients up to 21 years old), and Nursery
  • Core staff support deliveries as needed
  • Charting completed in Allscripts EMR
  • Charge nurse responsibilities may be required occasionally during low acuity periods
  • Potential opportunity for overtime
Requirements
  • Active NY RN license required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Prior Level 3 NICU experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP
  • Experience with intubated/mechanically ventilated patients and oscillators required
  • Experience with OG/NG tube management, IV insertion, and central lines required
  • Strong critical thinking skills required
  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required
  • BSN not required for this position
Additional Information
  • Provide care for neonatal patients with diagnoses including prematurity, hypoglycemia, sepsis, withdrawal, congenital anomalies, and respiratory distress syndrome
  • Support transfer-out surgical and cardiology cases
  • Neonatologist available on-call at night with in-house house staff/attending coverage 24/7
  • Unit is supported by two nurse aides per day shift, one per room, with 12-16 babies per main room
  • RNs are not required to titrate drips; common titratable medications include Dopamine and Dobutamine with no sedation
  • Unit-specific orientation includes 2 days in the department and 1 day each in the nursery and PICU
  • Scrub color required is royal blue, with scrub card or surgical scrubs provided
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Schedule flexibility requested from travelers to help fill gaps in permanent staffing, though block scheduling is not guaranteed
  • Excessive call-ins may impact continued assignment
