Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Location: The Bronx

HiFyve is hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in the construction repair industry in Bronx, NY!

Salary: $55.18 - $60.19/hour

Shift: 1st shift, 7:00am - 4:00pm

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy construction equipment, with a focus on CAT equipment

• Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs in accordance with service standards

• Utilize diagnostic software and technical documentation to identify and resolve issues

• Plan and execute efficient repair procedures to meet or exceed labor guidelines

• Document all troubleshooting steps, repairs performed, and service communications accurately

• Efficiently use tools, parts, and technical resources to minimize downtime and cost

• Communicate repair status, findings, and recommendations with supervisors

• Follow all safety policies and participate in required safety meetings, audits, and training

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with contamination control initiatives

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Technical or vocational training in heavy equipment or diesel mechanics preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy construction equipment

• CAT equipment experience preferred

• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic skills

• Computer proficiency to run diagnostic software and prepare service documentation

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision

• CDL license preferred

• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs., work in physically demanding environments, and perform tasks requiring climbing, kneeling, crawling, and extended reaching

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while wearing required PPE
