Engineering Specialist, Machining

In this position you will apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.

• Troubleshoot machinery, robot, automation, and controls issues and downtime
• Use Factory Information Systems (FIS), plant monitoring software to review cycle times of equipment and follow up on project installations
• Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements
• Update program backups for machinery and automation
• Program new installations of automation, machinery, material handling, and robots
• Review risk assessments as part of a team evaluating equipment safety
• Work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
• Siemens and Modicon programming
• Independently troubleshoot all equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery
• Work with PLC/Computer Numerical Control (CNC) – Siemens
• Work with ABB robot
• Read and modify electrical prints and schematics, Auto CAD

• High school diploma or GED
• 1+ years’ experience with Microsoft Office products
• 1+ year of Controls Engineering experience (can include co‑op or internships)

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred)
• Electrical background (electrician or technician) (preferred)
• Familiarity with VFD, servo, Profinet
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
• Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka‑Yoke, Value Stream Mapping experience
• TQM and Kaizen methods experience
• MEA, PPAP, and DOE experience
• Visual Factory Management experience
