Job DescriptionWhat you’ll do as a Maintenance Repair Worker 2
- Performs maintenance, replacement, installation & repair of electrical and plumbing equipment.
- Performs carpentry work involving maintenance, alteration & or repair of buildings, equipment & wood structures.
- Performs basic painting.
- Operates state vehicle to transport various equipment, tools, parts, materials & supplies to various locations throughout the state or to a dealership for service or repair.
- Performs minor custodial duties.
- Performs general exterior grounds‑keeping duties.
- Performs minor maintenance on division vehicles.

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary;
AND 6 mos. training or 6 mos. experience in maintenance repair work (e.g., basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, masonry repair & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment);
AND valid commercial driver’s license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.
-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure.
Position specific minimum qualifications: requires valid driver license to operate state vehicle.
Unusual Working ConditionsMay work evening shift; may be exposed to high & amp; low temperatures; may be exposed to weather.
This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency. This position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency.
Background Check Information- BCI and FBI fingerprint check, a background check, including a polygraph examination, may be required on all selected applicants.
