The Test Facilities Operation, and Engineering (TFOME III) Team, which includes Troy7, Sierra Lobo, HX5, Amentum & MSM, is currently seeking a GRC Institutional Monitoring & Control System (GIMCS) Workstation Operator to join our team in Brook Park, Ohio. The TFOME team at the NASA Glenn Research Center provides engineering and technical services in the aeronautics, space power and propulsion test facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The GIMCS Workstation Operator II performs intermediate BAS/controls work, including troubleshooting GIMCS alarms, modifying system objects (schedules, events, notifications), diagnosing panel communication issues, and supporting field technicians.
  • Troubleshoot GIMCS alarms involving points, schedules, events, notifications, and field panel communication faults.
  • Modify system objects such as schedules, event triggers, conditional notifications, and trending configurations.
  • Work with Siemens PXC controllers using PPCL (Powers Process Control Language) tools and panel interfaces.
  • Operate and interpret TX‑I/O modules, FLN devices, TEC controllers, and ALN/FLN communication buses (BACnet MS/TP, UDP/IP, P2, Ethernet).
  • Diagnose and upscale field device problems to HVAC technicians or GIMCS Hardware Technicians.
  • Coordinate responses to utility and plant-level alarms (steam plant, chilled water plants, cooling towers).
  • Maintain high-quality Maximo documentation including logs, FCA, failure codes, and images.
  • Support Area Clearances and identify control system implications of system outages.
  • Assist in RCM trend analysis using GIMCS historical data.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Work from various heights on ladders, scaffolding, catwalks, man-lifts, cab cranes, suspended platforms or cages, etc.
    • Crouch, stand, kneel, and stoop while installing, repairing, or testing electrical equipment in confined spaces such as enclosed switch gear, or in structures such as overhead bus and conduit assemblies.
    • Work above ground from aerial bucket trucks and poles, at ground level, and in trenches, or manholes.
    • Work requires bending, stooping, climbing, and standing for long periods while installing, repairing, and testing electrical equipment in manholes and on overhead distribution lines. Pushes and pulls heavy objects.
    • Use of electrical PPE such as arc flash protection clothing, face shields, high voltage gloves, or other required personal protection equipment.
    • Works in closely confined spaces.
    • Lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds, sometimes up and down stairways, where lifting devices and hoists are not available. Lift or pull heavy cables and equipment weighing more than 23 kilograms (50 pounds) with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
    • Ability to use hearing and vision protection and respiratory equipment.
    • One eye (minimum) correctable to 20/20.
    • Ability to distinguish eight color panel display.
  • Work Environment:
    • Work indoors and out in high and low temperatures and in all types of weather conditions.
    • Work in dusty, noisy, hot, high humidity, dirty, and greasy environment.
    • Work in areas where there may be materials that are irritating to eyes, nose, throat, and skin while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
    • Possible exposure to danger from explosions of equipment and cables in manholes and vaults, as well as danger from high voltage electrical shock, burns from solder, broken bones, cuts, and bruises.
