Transportation Services Director

The Transportation Services Director is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service for EA students, REACH clients and parents. This role manages driver staffing and performance, optimization of routes, regulatory compliance, and accurate data.

• Directly supervise and manage a team of Transportation Coordinators in routing, driver training, and daily operational needs.
• Collaborate with Transportation Coordinators in the development and management of driver schedules, assignments, and coverage plans
• Oversee tracking of driver attendance, timekeeping, and performance metrics.
• Lead all driver staffing efforts, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training.
• Oversee ongoing coaching, corrective action plans, and performance evaluations for drivers and Coordinators.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and professional growth across the transportation team.

• Assist Coordinators in making real-time adjustments to routes to address absences, delays, or emergencies.
• Oversee the and optimize daily transportation routes using routing software.
• Analyze distance, traffic patterns, student needs, and school requirements.
• Ensure efficient vehicle utilization while maintaining service quality and safety.
• Ensures effective allocation of resources, including vehicles and personnel.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational disruptions as they arise.
• Ensure adherence to company standards and service expectations.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation, safety, and school regulations
• Oversee vehicle safety, inspections, and maintenance coordination
• Maintain accurate documentation, including driver files, logbooks, and certifications
• Reinforce safety protocols and incident reporting procedures
• Address inquiries, concerns, and service issues in a timely and professional manner
• Collaborate with school administrators to support student transportation needs
• Analyze operational data and key performance indicators
• Prepare clear, professional reports for leadership, including route performance and staffing metrics
• Identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost control and service improvement

• Previous experience in school transportation, logistics, routing, or operations supervision
• Demonstrated experience managing staff, including hiring and performance management
• Strong understanding of route planning and operational efficiency
• Experience using routing, scheduling, or transportation management software
• Knowledge of safety and compliance standards in school transportation
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities

• Primarily office-based position
• Includes regular site visits to Education Alternatives locations
• Frequent interaction with drivers, Transportation Coordinators, school staff, and district administrators

Full-time, year-round position. Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. This role operates on a year‑round schedule and does not observe calamity days. Schedule may require flexibility to support transportation operations, including early mornings aligned with school transportation needs.
