Position Overview

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the academic, social, and developmental growth of second-grade students. This position involves designing and delivering engaging, standards-based instruction while working closely with a collaborative team of professionals to ensure student success.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, coordinate, and implement rigorous, age-appropriate instruction aligned with Grade 2 curriculum standards

* Develop and monitor student learning goals and progress across academic, social-emotional, and developmental domains

* Use assessment data to inform instruction and provide targeted support to meet the diverse needs of learners

* Communicate regularly with families regarding student achievement, growth, and classroom expectations

* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that may include School Social Workers, School Psychologists, Special Education Teachers, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Paraprofessionals

* Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes student independence, curiosity, and a love of learning

* Support students in developing strong foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, problem-solving, and social-emotional learning

Qualifications

* Valid Connecticut teaching certification with appropriate elementary endorsement (e.g., 001, 002, 003, or 305)

* Experience working with elementary-aged children;
Grade 2 teaching experience preferred

* Strong knowledge of elementary instructional practices, literacy development, and differentiated instruction

* Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, communication, and teamwork

* Enthusiasm for professional growth, reflective practice, and continuous learning

* Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues in support of student success
