Job PurposeThe Physical Therapist Assistant
- Pilot - 1099 serves as a clinical support professional assisting with ROMTech pilot programs, research initiatives, and IRB-approved studies. This role works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist and partners with internal teams, physicians, hospitals, and health systems to support the implementation and evaluation of innovative rehabilitation strategies.
The position assists with patient care and participant engagement within approved study protocols, supports clinical data collection and outcome tracking, and provides practical insight into patient workflows and rehabilitation delivery. The Physical Therapist Assistant contributes to the advancement of ROMTech's clinician-guided at-home rehabilitation model while practicing within the scope of the applicable state license and supervision requirements.
Key Responsibilities Essential Duties- Assist the supervising Physical Therapist with the implementation and execution of clinical protocols for ROMTech pilot programs and IRB-approved studies.
- Provide physical therapy assistant services to participants enrolled in approved pilot programs and clinical studies under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist and in accordance with protocol requirements and professional standards of care.
- Assist with patient assessments, therapeutic interventions, exercise programs, mobility activities, and rehabilitation activities as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Support patient and participant engagement, education, adherence, and understanding of prescribed rehabilitation programs.
- Monitor and document patient progress and assist with collection of clinical outcomes and study-related data.
- Collaborate with Physical Therapists, research, clinical, and operational stakeholders to support study execution and program objectives.
- Provide practical clinical feedback regarding rehabilitation protocols, patient engagement, workflow, and recovery pathways.
- Assist with evaluating the effectiveness and usability of innovative rehabilitation approaches for pilot populations.
- Support accurate and timely clinical documentation and data collection in accordance with applicable protocols and organizational requirements.
- Participate in meetings and presentations with physicians, healthcare administrators, clinicians, and internal stakeholders as appropriate to the role.
- Support compliance with applicable IRB requirements, HIPAA regulations, state practice requirements, supervision requirements, and professional standards.
- Communicate patient observations, progress, concerns, and relevant clinical information to the supervising Physical Therapist and appropriate members of the care team.
- Contribute practical clinical insights that support new service models, product innovation, patient workflows, and research initiatives.
- Operate and assist patients with ROMTech rehabilitation technology and related equipment in accordance with training, established protocols, and the direction of the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Participate in pilot planning discussions and innovation-focused initiatives.
- Provide feedback regarding program design, workflow optimization, patient engagement, and clinical adoption strategies.
- Assist with preparation of clinical summaries, presentations, patient education materials, and study-related materials.
- Assist with maintaining study and pilot documentation and ensuring required information is collected accurately and consistently.
- Performs other mutually agreed upon duties consistent with the applicable engagement or contract.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Skills and AbilitiesRequired
- Strong knowledge of physical therapy assistant principles, therapeutic exercise, mobility training, and rehabilitation techniques.
- Ability to provide patient care under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
