Job Title:
Technical Lead - Mainframe (Cobol/DB2/JCL)
Job Summary
We are seeking a Technical Lead with strong expertise in Cobol, DB2, and JCL to support critical initiatives within the Cards and Payments domain. This role will drive technical design, ensure high-quality delivery, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work environment.

Roles & Responsibilities
* Lead design, development, and implementation of solutions using Cobol, DB2, and JCL
* Translate business requirements into technical specifications
* Provide technical leadership and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
* Manage and optimize DB2 databases for performance and data integrity
* Perform testing, debugging, and code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables
* Monitor and resolve production issues with minimal downtime
* Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs
* Maintain technical documentation for systems and processes
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems and team productivity
* Support project timelines in coordination with project managers
Key Qualifications
* 8-12 years of experience in Cobol, DB2, and JCL
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Experience delivering complex technical projects
* Knowledge of SDLC and agile methodologies
* Ability to mentor and guide team members
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Certifications (Preferred)
* IBM Certified Database Associate - DB2
* COBOL Programming Certification
Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000 per year
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
