This role focuses on high-end finish carpentry and cabinet installation for new luxury apartment construction throughout the greater Milwaukee area. You will install trim, doors, windows, and cabinets, working from blueprints and plans to deliver precise, high-quality finishes in occupied and unoccupied commercial and residential environments. The position requires strong technical carpentry skills, attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently and as part of a construction crew.

Responsibilities

  • Perform finish carpentry work on new high-end luxury apartment projects, including installing trim on walls, doors, windows, and cabinets.
  • Hang interior doors and install cabinets with precise alignment, secure fastening, and clean finishing.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and building plans to determine layout, dimensions, and materials required.
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood, metal, and other framing and finish materials accurately according to specifications.
  • Perform rough carpentry tasks as needed, including framing for floors, walls, roofs, and staircases.
  • Lay out and assemble framing and finish components in accordance with construction standards and project requirements.
  • Use hand and power tools such as saws, hammers, drills, nail guns, and miter saws safely and effectively.
  • Install hardware and related finish components, ensuring proper fit, function, and appearance.
  • Work on commercial and residential construction sites, including restaurants, retail stores, and apartment complexes, sometimes during business hours.
  • Maintain a professional and presentable appearance while working in occupied or customer-facing environments.
  • Follow all building codes, safety regulations, and company safety procedures on every job site.
  • Identify and troubleshoot construction challenges on-site, proposing practical solutions to maintain quality and schedule.
  • Collaborate with crew members and supervisors, communicating progress, issues, and material needs clearly.
  • Travel to various job sites across the greater Milwaukee area, using reliable transportation and adhering to schedule requirements.
  • Maintain and use personal basic tools in good working condition to complete daily tasks efficiently.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5 years of carpentry experience with a strong focus on finish carpentry.
  • Rough carpentry experience in residential or commercial construction.
  • Trim carpentry experience of at least 2 years.
  • Finish carpentry experience of at least 2 years.
  • Hardware installation experience of at least 2 years.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and building plans.
  • Ability to measure, cut, and shape wood, metal, and other framing and finish materials accurately.
  • Skilled use of hand and power tools, including saws, hammers, drills, nail guns, and miter saws.
  • Knowledge of framing techniques for floors, walls, roofs, and staircases.
  • Understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and construction standards.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculating dimensions, quantities, and angles.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities on construction sites.
  • Physical strength and stamina to lift materials, climb, and work in various site conditions.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills for coordinating with crew members and supervisors.
  • Very strong safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ownership of basic carpentry tools suitable for finish and rough carpentry work.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to job sites throughout the greater Milwaukee area.
  • Professional and presentable demeanor suitable for working in active business environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience installing cabinets or hanging interior doors in residential or commercial settings.
  • Experience working with crown molding and other detailed trim profiles.
  • Experience in commercial construction, including restaurants and retail stores.
  • Familiar in constructing apartment complexes or multifamily housing projects.
  • Comfort working on long-term job sites, typically 6–9 months in duration.
