Lead a clean, safe, efficient, and guest-focused Housekeeping operation that delivers rooms and public spaces to the highest standards while supporting a positive associate experience and the overall success of the hotel.
Key Responsibilities
Elevate Cleanliness and Guest Experience
- Ensure guest rooms, public areas, and assigned hotel spaces are consistently clean, maintained, and guest ready.
- Inspect guest rooms and public areas to verify quality, cleanliness, presentation, and compliance with established standards.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, concerns, and service-recovery needs related to Housekeeping.
- Monitor room priorities, special requests, VIP needs, and operational demands to support a seamless guest experience.
- Maintain a visible leadership presence throughout Housekeeping operations and follow up on work results.
Lead and Develop People
- Supervise, schedule, assign, train, coach, counsel, and develop Housekeeping and Laundry associates.
- Set clear productivity, cleanliness, safety, attendance, and service expectations and provide regular feedback.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, recognition, professionalism, and continuous learning.
- Address performance, conduct, and attendance concerns in partnership with Human Resources and hotel leadership.
- Lead by example and step into operational assignments when needed during emergencies, staffing shortages, or peak business periods.
Drive Business Performance
- Plan staffing and daily room assignments based on occupancy, departures, arrivals, business levels, and operational priorities.
- Monitor departmental labor, supplies, linen, equipment, and other controllable expenses to support budget and productivity goals.
- Order and receive Housekeeping supplies and equipment and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Maintain inventory of Housekeeping equipment, linen, and supplies and identify replacement or purchasing needs.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, workflow, service delivery, quality, and cost effectiveness.
Lead Operational Excellence
- Oversee daily Housekeeping operations, including room assignments, inspections, public-area cleaning, Laundry support, and guest requests.
- Ensure Housekeeping equipment is properly operated and maintained; coordinate preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment concerns.
- Maintain safe working conditions and ensure compliance with required safety procedures and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain Hyatt brand standards, hotel policies, operating procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Attend required training, departmental, divisional, staff, and leadership meetings.
- Participate in the Manager on Duty program as assigned.
Collaborate Across the Hotel
- Partner with Front Office, Engineering, Security, Food and Beverage, Sales, and hotel leadership to ensure rooms and public areas support the guest experience.
- Communicate room status, maintenance needs, out-of-order concerns, guest requests, staffing issues, and operational priorities across departments.
- Keep hotel leadership promptly informed of significant guest, staffing, safety, equipment, or operational concerns.
- Maintain open communication with other departments and provide support during emergency situations when needed.
What You Bring
- At least two years of Housekeeping experience in a hotel environment.
- One to two years of hotel supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of guest-room and public-area cleaning standards, room inspections, Housekeeping workflow, linen, supplies, and equipment.
- Working knowledge of laundry chemicals and formulas and their effects on different types of linen.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze information, make sound judgments, and coordinate the timing, sequence, and priorities of daily operations.
- Ability to communicate clearly with guests, associates, and leaders and prepare required written reports.
- Ability to use standard business software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on business needs.
Preferred
- Previous Housekeeping leadership experience in a full-service hotel.
- Experience with Hyatt brand standards or comparable upscale hotel standards.
