Responsible for providing effective and efficient maintenance to refrigeration systems, special refrigeration systems and HVAC supporting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Responsible for ensuring, within all regulatory agency requirements, that the buildings, equipment and grounds (where applicable) are maintained in a safe and aesthetically pleasing condition in order to provide an appropriate environment for the well being of all our customers. To proactively support the efforts that ensures delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment at Children’s.
Responsibilities- Operate and drive Children’s vehicles as needed to specified vendors or sites based on operational needs.
- Perform planned and general maintenance on refrigeration systems, special refrigeration systems, and HVAC equipment, including inspecting, testing, maintaining, installing, and repairing mechanical and electrical components (motors, motor starters, switches, solenoids, pumps, refrigeration valves, compressors).
- Maintain accurate records/logs of all work in mechanical rooms and demonstrate thorough knowledge of major building systems operations and refrigeration locations, ensuring freezing and cooling systems run at optimal levels.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the Isensix system, monitor Isensix, and ensure Isensix documentation is completed accurately and timely.
- Plan ahead to minimize downtime of refrigeration systems.
- Respond to unplanned breakdowns with urgency and demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting techniques.
- Use hand, diagnostic, and power tools related to the physical plant equipment; keep tools, equipment, and mechanical rooms in safe, clean, organized condition.
- Maintain HVAC and refrigeration inventory by notifying the Engineering Supervisor of parts, supplies, and materials needed for proper maintenance, in accordance with departmental procedures and on-site handling guidelines.
- Meet all in-service requirements and comply with System policies, infection control, safety, and OSHA standards.
- Experience:
3–5 years of trade-related work in hospital settings in one or more trades (electricity, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, or locksmith). - Experience installing and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment preferred (3 years).
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have license or specialty training in HVAC and Refrigeration
- Valid Georgia driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Detailed knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC systems and operations; strong refrigeration piping and brazing skills
- Ability to read and follow prints related to installation work
- Knowledge of healthcare facility systems and applicable codes for inspections, testing, and operation
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Ability to drive and operate Children’s vehicles
