Own the Finish. Keep Projects Moving. Deliver the Details That Matter.

Cottage Smith is a family-owned, Atlanta-area design-build company specializing in custom accessory dwelling units, tiny homes, backyard cottages, pool houses, home offices, and other thoughtfully designed spaces. Our team handles the entire journey, from design and permitting through construction, while giving homeowners transparent information, personalized service, and lasting craftsmanship.

Cottage Smith is seeking an experienced Residential Finish Superintendent to lead the final stages of our residential construction projects while remaining actively involved in hands‑on finish work. This is not a desk‑based superintendent role. You will personally complete finish carpentry and installation work while also moving between active projects to make sure final‑stage work is progressing, subcontractors are following through, punch‑list items are being completed, and projects are moving toward a clean, professional turnover.

This role is ideal for an experienced finish carpenter, lead carpenter, remodeler, or working superintendent who combines strong craftsmanship with the ability to coordinate people, solve problems, and keep several jobs moving at once.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the finish phase of Cottage Smith residential projects.
  • Perform hands‑on finish carpentry and installation work as needed.
  • Install interior trim, baseboards, casing, and related finish components.
  • Install and adjust interior and exterior doors.
  • Install door hardware, including handles, locks, hinges, and related components.
  • Install luxury vinyl plank flooring.
  • Assemble and install kitchen, bathroom, and storage cabinetry.
  • Install shelving, closet components, and other interior finish items.
  • Assist with appliance installation and final placement.
  • Complete punch‑list items, touch‑ups, adjustments, and minor repairs.
  • Perform or coordinate final cleanup and prepare completed units for homeowner turnover.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, fit, finish, and overall presentation.
  • Travel between active Cottage Smith projects throughout the North Atlanta area.
  • Monitor jobsite progress and confirm that scheduled work is being completed.
  • Follow up with subcontractors and trades when work is incomplete or requires correction.
  • Identify unfinished work, missing materials, quality concerns, and potential schedule delays.
  • Coordinate with Construction Managers on project priorities, sequencing, and completion needs.
  • Help organize trades, materials, deliveries, and final‑stage project activities.
  • Make sure jobs are clean, organized, safe, and ready for upcoming work.
  • Step in personally when practical to solve problems and keep projects moving.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and materials used for finish work.
  • Uphold Cottage Smith's standards for craftsmanship, presentation, and customer experience.
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of residential construction, remodeling, finish carpentry, or similar hands‑on experience.
  • Strong finish carpentry skills, particularly trim and door installation.
  • Experience assembling and installing residential cabinetry.
  • Experience installing LVP or similar residential flooring.
  • Experience installing door hardware, shelving, appliances, and other finish components.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction and the sequence of work required to bring a project through completion.
  • Ability to identify poor workmanship, incomplete work, and jobsite problems before they…
