Distribution Designer I-Sr.

Responsible for meeting with customers to determine electric needs and requirements. Design jobs to install, replace, or remove distribution facilities to support customer requests, reliability projects, or infrastructure improvement.

• Manage multiple distribution projects for new residential and commercial businesses; meet with customers to determine service needs, design overhead and underground line extensions, estimate costs, prepare construction drawings and coordinate construction commits.
• Coordinate and lead pre-design and pre-construction meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Perform engineering calculations for load studies, revenue justification, fault current, voltage drop, etc.
• Provide leadership and technical support to local operations and contract compliance with distribution design standards and practices.
• Aid local Right of Way agent with securing permits and ROW documents.
• Assist with storm restoration efforts, including damage assessment activities.

• Designer I:
  One of the following – bachelor’s degree (any discipline) OR 2‑year technical associate’s degree OR 1‑year electric utility distribution (or transmission) design experience OR >2 years electric utility field operational experience (transmission line or substation, distribution line or service, field metering). Department Sr. Manager’s approval may substitute all requirements.
• Designer II
  : 2 years electric utility distribution (or transmission) design experience AND one of the following – bachelor’s degree (any discipline) OR 2‑year technical associate’s degree OR additional 2 years design experience OR >2 years field operational experience. Department Sr. Manager’s approval may substitute all requirements.
• Designer III
  : 4 years electric utility distribution (or transmission) design experience AND one of the following – bachelor’s degree (any discipline) OR 2‑year technical associate’s degree OR additional 2 years design experience OR >2 years field operational experience. Department Sr. Manager’s approval may substitute all requirements.
• Designer Sr
  : 6 years electric utility distribution (or transmission) design experience AND one of the following – bachelor’s degree (any discipline) OR 2‑year technical associate’s degree OR additional 2 years design experience OR >2 years field operational experience. Department Sr. Manager’s approval may substitute all requirements.

• Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in personal computer operations and related software.
• Basic theory of electricity and ability to interpret construction drawings.
• Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
• Ability to work well under pressure and as a self‑motivated team player.
• Good math skills.
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code and National Electrical Code.
• Commitment to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures.
• Capability to recognize and mitigate workplace hazards.
• Ability to maintain company equipment and safeguard assets.
