SMRMC Full Time 1601-Certified Nurse Assistant/Nurse Technician (N T) - 6020 Med/Card

• Provide direct patient care for an assigned number of patients under general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Nurse Manager, and direct supervision of RN 1, charge nurse, RN or LPN.
• Manage patient assignments based on department census and staffing levels; may rotate between day and night shifts up to 12-hour shifts and up to 40 hours per week according to unit needs and census.
• Function within the scope of practice and approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization.
• Assist with orientation and preceptorship for Nurse Techs, certified nurse assistants, students, or unit secretaries assigned to the unit.
• Maintain professional conduct with peers, physicians, mid-level providers, administration, patients, and visitors.
• Collect selected patient information, document care provided, assist with chart review and maintenance per policy, and ensure timely data entry of patient orders or charges into the computer system.
• Monitor and reassess patients' vital signs and Accu-checks as directed by the RN/LPN; identify patient needs/concerns to the RN/LPN or provider for safety and satisfaction.
• Maintain clinical competence to perform assigned CNA/Tech duties within competency scope and contribute to unit and organizational goals; participate in department policies and procedures relevant to telemetry services.
• Support staffing and scheduling policies to meet unit needs; participate in organizational committees as assigned.
• Provide information on trends related to patient outcomes to the Nurse Manager, charge nurse, or RN/LPN; stay informed of regulatory requirements (EMTALA, DNV, CMS).
• Demonstrate professionalism and promote professional behavior of staff; support patient throughput and customer service/satisfaction initiatives.
• Monitor census with emphasis on patient throughput and address patient concerns; complete yearly mandatory in-service (YMI) with responsibility to arrange, attend, and stay current on Health Stream assignments.
• Float to designated areas as assigned by the RN 1, Manager, or Charge RN; be available for on-call as needed based on census and unit needs with on-call pay.

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Nurse Technician with current credentials relevant to the Med/Card unit (1601-Certified).
• Ability to cope with frequent unpleasant sights/smells and to interact professionally with patients and families in challenging situations.
• Ability to float to designated areas as needed and to report to work when placed on call due to census fluctuations.
