Under general supervision of the Clinic Administrator, Office Manager and Clinic RN, the LPN uses the nursing process to safely provide patient care and patient education. Workload is determined by clinic appointment scheduled, staffing levels, and the needs and priorities of the outpatient clinics. The LPN must be willing to be reassigned within the clinic or float to another clinic as needed.

Assignment to another clinic is possible and is established by daily review of overall outpatient appointment schedules and staffing needs. The Clinic LPN will be assigned up to 40 hours per week according to the needs of the clinic and staff. Some weekend work may be required. The LPN is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the clinic and organization.

Responsibilities include assisting the Clinic RN and Office Manager with orientation and preceptorship for clinic technicians and clerical staff assigned to the clinic. The LPN must work and relate in a professional, non‑defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors. Duties also include documenting clinic patient care given, assisting with review and maintenance of patient charts per clinic policy, and ensuring accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.

Attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements is nonnegotiable and is the responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions.
