Job Duties / Responsibilities
Construct, build, and maintain overhead (OH)/underground (UG) electric facilities up to 34.5 kV, including:
- Installation, removal, and maintenance of OH/UG primary line facilities and secondary services
- Installation of OH/UG transformers and wiring of all types of transformer banks
- Installation of regulators, capacitors, and reclosers
- Operation of equipment such as aerial bucket and digger derrick trucks
- Reading and understanding job prints and sketches
- Recognizing materials and their functions
- Setting and climbing poles of all sizes in open areas, rear alleys, and energized lines
- Availability for on‑call duty and emergency response
- 5 years of lineman experience
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (or ability to obtain one)
- Physical strength to perform tasks in all weather conditions
- Ability to work irregular hours and out‑of‑town assignments as required
- Good communication skills
- Ability to follow directives and complete tasks with limited supervision
- Skill to plan and lay out work safely and efficiently
- Leadership ability to direct other linemen
- Adherence to Entergy safety policies and procedures
- Capacity to learn through classroom instruction, on‑the‑job training, and repetitive motions
- Capability to climb and work off poles of various heights
- Hazard recognition and mitigation skills
- Maintenance of company equipment and safeguarding of assets
- Customer‑service skills and pleasant demeanor toward the public
- Process‑improvement initiative

- Traverse uneven terrain with a full complement of tools weighing up to 50 lb
- Work in extreme heat and cold
- Operate in confined spaces and alone when performing restoration services
- Perform physical tasks such as digging, pulling, pushing, carrying, and lifting up to 80 lb
- Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
- Safely operate trucks and heavy equipment around energized lines
- Work at heights for extended periods and overhead from a bucket truck
- Climb and descend wooden/steel structures, poles, and ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, gripping, handling, and feeling
- Conduct emergency rescue operations when necessary
- Demonstrate sound judgment for safety in dangerous environments
- Follow safety rules
- Work up to 16 continuous hours per day when required
- Wear required personal protective equipment
- Perform basic computer tasks such as time entry, task logging, email, and training modules
- Communicate effectively with team members
- Manage stress and handle tense situations
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Work overtime when necessary
