Production 1 & 2 Operator

Position Summary

The Production Operator is responsible for running and operating equipment used in the throughput and refinement of colostrum and colostrum-based products, following company guidelines and customer specifications. The incumbent monitors and manipulates various production equipment while adhering to production schedules to ensure a steady flow of product is maintained at all times. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is a primary responsibility.

Production Supervisor or Production Manager

• Monitors and adjusts equipment and settings to ensure efficient production within specifications.
• Takes steps to minimize product loss/waste.
• Maintains a clean working environment at all times.
• Heats and regulates temperature of product using HTST, ensuring process completion within time and quality standards, and cleans equipment per SOP guidelines after processing.
• Completes curdling of colostrum in a cheese vat, monitoring temperatures and processing time, and adding rennet as required.
• Operates filtration equipment to finish product based on customer specifications.
• Completes and monitors pasteurization of product in a processing tank within time and temperature specifications.
• Lifts, moves, and pours 44‑55 lb bags of dry powders into liquid product during processing.
• Transfers product into finishing vessels for drying and packaging.
• Completes established CIP processes to ensure tanks and vessels are properly cleaned after processing.
• Operates forklift to transport product within the plant.
• Promotes and complies with all safety standards of Sterling Technology to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned and when needed.

• Previous production skills and experience preferred.

Automated controls and electronic system monitoring are required. Specific computer program experience is not required.

The role requires alternating between standing and walking throughout an 8–12 hour shift, communicating verbally and in writing, using hands or fingers to manipulate equipment, reaching below and/or above waist, shoulders, or head, lifting and carrying up to 55 lbs, and climbing ladders to reach elevated platforms.

Vision requirements include close, distance, mid‑range, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to focus near and far frequently.

The environment is moderately noisy with running machines, frequent interruptions, and moderate traffic. Employees will have extended exposure to wet, dry, humid, hot, cold, and hazardous conditions, occasional entry into confined spaces, and frequent handling of hazardous chemicals.
