South Coast Lumber Company is seeking a dependable Lube Technician to join our Truck Shop team. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on our fleet of trucks and equipment, including lubrication, oil and filter changes, and basic inspections. You’ll play a critical part in keeping our operations running smoothly by ensuring every vehicle is maintained, reliable, and ready for daily use.
Key Responsibilities- Preventative Maintenance:
Perform routine lubrication, oil changes, and filter replacements on company trucks and heavy equipment. - Inspections:
Conduct basic visual and functional inspections to identify maintenance or repair needs, and promptly report findings to the shop supervisor. - Fluids & Systems:
Check and top off fluid levels, inspect belts and hoses, and ensure equipment is in proper working order. - Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate service logs, documenting all maintenance performed, parts used, and issues observed. - Safety & Compliance:
Follow company safety procedures, including proper PPE use, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and environmental guidelines for handling oils and chemicals. - Team
Collaboration:
Work closely with mechanics and operators to coordinate service needs, prioritize maintenance tasks, and support efficient shop operations. - Follow company safety protocols, including proper PPE use.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and industry standards.
- Contribute to a safe and efficient work environment.
- Assist with other tasks as needed to support the team and maintain smooth operations.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend throughout a 10-hour shift.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment, oils, lubricants, and moving machinery.
- Reaching, pushing, and pulling while handling tools, filters, hoses, and shop equipment.
- Tolerance for working in a shop environment with noise, exhaust, and varying temperatures.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or with a team.
- Strong work ethic with basic mechanical aptitude.
- Solid time management and the ability to follow instructions.
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Preferred: Experience with preventative maintenance or the ability to operate manual-transmission vehicles.
