Lube Technician
Location: Brookings, OR

South Coast Lumber Company is seeking a dependable Lube Technician to join our Truck Shop team. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on our fleet of trucks and equipment, including lubrication, oil and filter changes, and basic inspections. You’ll play a critical part in keeping our operations running smoothly by ensuring every vehicle is maintained, reliable, and ready for daily use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preventative Maintenance:
    Perform routine lubrication, oil changes, and filter replacements on company trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Inspections:
    Conduct basic visual and functional inspections to identify maintenance or repair needs, and promptly report findings to the shop supervisor.
  • Fluids & Systems:
    Check and top off fluid levels, inspect belts and hoses, and ensure equipment is in proper working order.
  • Recordkeeping:
    Maintain accurate service logs, documenting all maintenance performed, parts used, and issues observed.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    Follow company safety procedures, including proper PPE use, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and environmental guidelines for handling oils and chemicals.

    Collaboration:

    Work closely with mechanics and operators to coordinate service needs, prioritize maintenance tasks, and support efficient shop operations.
  • Follow company safety protocols, including proper PPE use.

  • Contribute to a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed to support the team and maintain smooth operations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend throughout a 10-hour shift.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment, oils, lubricants, and moving machinery.
  • Reaching, pushing, and pulling while handling tools, filters, hoses, and shop equipment.
  • Tolerance for working in a shop environment with noise, exhaust, and varying temperatures.

  • Solid time management and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Preferred: Experience with preventative maintenance or the ability to operate manual-transmission vehicles.
