Training Specialist – Instructional Design Services
South Dakota State University’s Instructional Design Services invites applications for a Training Specialist. This dynamic role leads development and coordination of engaging, high‑quality training programs that support faculty and staff across the university.
Location:
Brookings, SD. 12‑month, full‑time, benefits‑eligible position. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship not available.
- Develop and conduct needs assessments, analyze special requests, revise or adapt trainings to the needs of the targeted population, and develop training schedules.
- Conduct and present trainings by analyzing and defining training objectives, researching subject matter, writing objectives, selecting presentation methods and preparing or selecting training material to present accurate, relevant and timely training.
- Provide instructional design expertise to support faculty in integrating innovative educational technologies that enhance teaching effectiveness and improve student learning in both on‑campus and online courses.

- Training methods and principles, individual and group behavior.
- Computer systems and applications.
- Conduct needs assessments and analyze requests to design or revise effective training programs.
- Develop, deliver, and maintain engaging training courses and materials.
- Support faculty in integrating innovative technologies to enhance student learning.
- Research emerging tools and solutions to continuously improve instructional offerings.
- Manage records, communicate effectively, and prioritize responsibilities to meet competing deadlines.
- Able to work extensively on a computer with strong visual focus and precision.
- Able to complete tasks with precision and consistency.
