Assistant Professor of Computer Science

Overview

Assistant Professor of Computer Science, 9‑month tenure‑track position in the McComish Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, starting August 2026.

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science, including in‑person, online, and hybrid formats; develop curricula and advanced courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.
• Establish and maintain an active, independent research program in robotics, quantum computing, or closely related fields; secure external funding and disseminate findings through top journals and conferences.
• Mentor undergraduate students in computer science/software engineering research projects and supervise graduate students through their research.
• Contribute to departmental service, professional societies, and collaborative research within the EECS department, the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering, and across the university.

• Ph.D. in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field earned by start date.
• Potential to create a research program complementing the department’s agenda in robotics or quantum computing.
• Potential to publish research and secure extramural funding.
• Potential to develop curriculum and teach at undergraduate and/or graduate level.
• Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
