Adjunct Faculty – Critical Reading & Academic Study Skills
Kean University invites adjunct faculty to teach first‑year reading courses in‑person during daytime hours at the Union campus. Courses focus on college‑level interdisciplinary critical reading and study skill development. Daytime availability is required.
Responsibilities- Teach and prepare lesson plans for assigned courses.
- Provide office‑hours outside the classroom according to the credit load: at least one hour per week per teaching credit of three or four credits; at least thirty minutes per week for any credit load below three. Additional office hours may be scheduled at the instructor’s discretion.
- Use the university’s Learning Management System for course delivery and student engagement.
- Master’s degree in a related field (ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable doctorate encouraged).
- Teaching experience unless otherwise indicated.
- Proficiency in a Learning Management System.
Pay:
- $2,100 per credit effective September 2025.
- $2,225 per credit effective September 2026.
- Additional $75 per credit beginning the 13th semester taught.
Benefits include enrollment in a state‑administered retirement plan (when eligible) and possible enrollment in the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
Employment LocationsFaculty may be required to work on any of the university’s New Jersey campus locations or affiliated work sites. Possibilities include the Union campus, Kean Ocean in Toms River, Kean Skylands in Jefferson Township, Kean Jersey City, Kean at Brookdale in Middletown Township, Manahawkin, Princeton, and Trenton. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global.
