The Crew Learning Specialist works alongside the Learning Lead to support the academic growth and success of youth. This position provides homework assistance, reinforces academic concepts, supports enrichment activities and programming, and helps youth build confidence and skills in a positive learning environment. The Crew Learning Specialist is also responsible for actively supervising members, supporting positive behavior, and maintaining a safe, welcoming, and engaging program environment.

  • Support the academic growth, development, and overall progress of youth.
  • Maintain a growth mindset toward youth learning, professional development, and teaching practices.
  • Encourage problem-solving, curiosity, critical thinking, and independent learning.
  • Provide academic support through homework assistance, special projects, enrichment activities, and other educational opportunities.
  • Support youth experiencing behavioral challenges using positive behavioral strategies and consistently follow established Success Plans.
  • Implement the 5 Key Elements for Positive Youth Development in daily interactions and programming.
  • Model and uphold the Club Values of Excellence, Impact Driven, Teamwork, and Good Character.
  • Assist with the implementation of program activities in accordance with Club policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Maintain responsibility for the safety, supervision, and security of youth within the facility and during program activities.
  • Communicate daily updates, concerns, incidents, and other relevant information to the supervisor at the end of each shift.
  • Attend required monthly all-staff meetings, bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with the supervisor, and team meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with the supervisor to develop and achieve individual performance and professional development goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
