Advisor-Fraternity and Sorority Life

Are you committed to enhancing the Greek Life experience and fostering a supportive, thriving community? South Dakota State University ( SDSU ) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Advisor for Fraternity and Sorority Life. In this role, you will provide support and advisement to our Fraternity and Sorority Lifecommunity, contributing to the growth and success of our Greek Village and chapter houses.

This position is a 12-month, full-time,benefits-eligible position located in Brookings, SD .

The Department of Student Union & Activities is housed withinthe Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. The division cultivates enrollment, student success and opportunity forall through innovative programs, intentional experiences,exceptional services, and premier facilities to enrich studentdevelopment, promote wellbeing, and foster learning in a vibrant community.

Key Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to provide support and advisement to the Fraternity and Sorority Life ( FSL ) community as well as provide support to a growing and thriving Greek Village (i.e., chapter houses), meeting theincreasing demand of students’ needs in this area.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree by date of application.
  • Minimum of one year of experience with student programming atthe University level, student experience will be considered.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Education or closely related field.
  • Experience with event planning and promotion using various platforms.
  • Professional advising experience in student or academic affairs.
  • Experience working with chapter and national leadership.
  • Knowledge of or experience with leadership development training.
  • Involvement with new student orientation programs.
  • Experience with budget oversight.
