Job Description SummaryAs a Project Engineer Assistant, you will serve as the right‑hand of the lead Project Manager, performing engineering tasks, assisting with cost estimation, and ensuring projects stay on budget and schedule. You will use standard engineering practices and management skills to support facility projects and contribute to sustainable operational goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Work as part of the construction project team to ensure plans are followed according to the Senior Responsible Engineer’s direction
- Participate in daily safety briefings and project timeline updates (daily, weekly, and monthly)
- Assist the Senior Engineer in checking work against drawings and project documentation
- Fill in for the Senior Engineer as needed to ensure project completion and success
- Be present on the construction site daily, interacting with general contractors and subcontractor crews to maintain a safe work environment
- Execute special projects as defined by the Senior Engineer
- Organize follow‑up meetings, prepare minutes, progress reports, and dashboards
- Monitor on‑site progress to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards
- Track performance indicators and coordinate with stakeholders to meet deadlines
- Manage project documentation and archives
- Contribute to equipment commissioning and installation validation
- Analyse and design project improvement opportunities aligned with Bel’s values
- Own project pre‑planning, quantify options, and present proposals to stakeholders
- Supervise design of installations and project execution, managing costs and timelines
- Hold contractors accountable for project scope, policies, and procedures
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, safety rules, food safety procedures, and environmental protocols
- Perform other miscellaneous duties assigned by the Project Manager
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (preferred), GPA +3.0
- At least 5 years of project management experience (encouraged), or 2‑3 years of relevant experience in site construction supervision or industrial coordination
- Strong Microsoft Excel budgeting skills and broad proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to read engineering drawings and use measurement instruments (tape measure, etc.)
- Knowledge of project management software such as Microsoft Project and experience with AutoCAD, SAP, or PLC ladder logic programming (highly valued)/
- Desire to work in the food industry with the potential to transition to a Bel factory role after project completion
- Maintain confidentiality, quality, accuracy, timeliness, reliability, and thoroughness of work
- Build trust and respect with senior management, the facility management team, and employees
- Communicate effectively and foster good working relationships across all levels of the company
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and teamwork spirit
- Adopt a safety mindset at all times
- Work occurs in office and manufacturing environments, requiring 40+ hours per week on average with variations due to special projects or deadlines
- Must lift up to 30 lbs., climb ladders, and travel domestically and internationally as needed
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in the plant as required
