The Maintenance Technician of Sterling Technology helps the Maintenance Supervisor with all maintenance within and outside the plant facility, including production equipment, building, grounds, vehicles, and heavy equipment. The role focuses on maintaining and upholding the organization’s quality and standards.

Essential Functions- Helps with all maintenance within and outside the plant facility.
- Oversees and coordinates maintenance work in electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and related systems.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance to keep machines running efficiently.
- Trains and manages subcontractors and maintenance personnel.
- Executes plant maintenance safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Plans and coordinates maintenance work with the Maintenance Supervisor and Plant Manager.
- Interacts with other departments to ensure proper functioning of all systems.
- Co‑ordinates third‑party vendors and service‑providers.
- Helps coordinate renovations and new building/maintenance projects.
- Determines material and equipment needs and coordinates with the front office for purchasing.
- Works with other managers to implement Sterling Technology’s policies and goals.
- May be required to take after‑hour and weekend call‑ins, sharing these responsibilities with the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Keeps accurate records of maintenance work, type, and cost of repairs.
May be required to help the Maintenance Supervisor oversee contractors and other personnel performing maintenance‑related duties.
Qualifications- Knowledge of maintenance department functions, supplies, equipment, and methods.
- Ability to handle interactions with employees, vendors, and contractors courteously.
- Team player and independent worker who can build productive relationships.
- Ability to install, inspect, repair, and maintain electrical, plumbing, and other related systems.
- Ability to perform various cleanup and maintenance tasks.
- Ability to update inventories and supplies as needed.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong planning, organizational, and scheduling skills.
- Previous production and maintenance experience preferred; dairy and manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- Attention to detail at all times.
- Current, valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. Familiarity with basic computer functions such as keyboarding and internet use.
Physical Demands and EffortsAlternates between sitting, standing, walking, and climbing. May require reaching below and/or above waist level, using hands or fingers to manipulate equipment, lifting up to 50 pounds, and communicating verbally and in writing.
Vision RequirementsIncludes close, distance, and mid‑range vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus near and far frequently.
Work EnvironmentThe environment is moderately noisy with running machines, frequent interruptions, and moderate traffic. Exposure to wet, dry, humid, cold, and hazardous conditions, and chemicals may occur. Safety and GMP training is required at the start of employment.
