Overview
Horton, Inc. has an opening for a 1st shift Quality Auditor to work in our Britton, South Dakota location. The standard hours are 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday‑Friday, with overtime as needed. The starting pay is $23.69 per hour and depends on experience.
Position Summary: With general guidance from the Quality Manager, the employee uses knowledge of production processes and quality tools to continuously improve technical aspects of quality assurance. Statistical techniques, standard measures and methods, training materials, software, and gauging are used to meet customer requirements in quality and delivery at the most favorable cost.
ResponsibilitiesQuality Auditor Responsibilities:
- Performs inspection functions as directed by manager.
- Performs bearing quality checks that include: checking the seals to make sure there are no bumps or protrusions; verifying that the inside of the bearing spins; checking for rust, scratches or dents.
- Use air gauge for measurements.
- Input data into SPC Software for part traceability.
- Packages and prepares units to be used in Mainline Assembly and Reman.
- Uses a printer to print labels indicating information such as date, date code number, quantity of bearings, and the employee’s initials.
- Attaches all identifying labels and serial numbers if required.
- Boxes finished bearings and packs boxes per standard operating procedure.
- Uses hand cart/material handling equipment, such as a stand‑up forklift, to move finished goods to the assembly line shipping area and places them in proper location.
- Conducts assembly process audits as directed by Quality Manager.
- Utilizes product knowledge and inspection equipment to verify conformance to customer requirements.
- Performs assembly/ODW inspections.
- Documents and communicates results of findings.
- Performs Receiving Inspections.
- Conducts inspections of purchased incoming material using inspection equipment.
- Reviews incoming shipping damage.
- Interprets and records data.
- Suppliers.
- Places away material certificates from suppliers.
- Works with suppliers to support manufacturing processes and improvements.
- Month‑end scrap accruals.
- Performs Shipping Inspections.
- Audits shipping labeling, packaging, and paint.
- Other special duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Quality Auditor
Qualifications:
- The position requires skills and knowledge consistent with that of two years of college or trade school or equivalent.
- Equivalent education equals two years of closely related experience for one year of education in an applicable field.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail is critical.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong mechanical aptitude is paramount.
- Previous quality experience is preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States. No visa sponsorship is provided now or in the future for this position.
