South Dakota State University (SDSU) is currently seeking a Microbiologist to join our team! The South Dakota Animal Disease Research & Diagnostic Laboratory is a full service, AAVLD accredited diagnostic laboratory that conducts approximately 500,000 veterinary diagnostic tests a year. The ADRDL is within the department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences and serves the state, region and nation as a go-to source for diagnostic information on everything from livestock to pets to food safety issues.
Our researchers are hard at work solving the essential problems that hinder animal and human health and well-being. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Job Responsibilities:
To assist with the daily duties of the Serology Diagnostic section at the Animal Disease Research & Diagnostic Laboratory (ADRDL) including all technical duties required to determine and identify the presence of pathogenic organisms and evaluate the presence of antibodies to pathogens.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of:
General microbiology, virology, immunology, and molecular biology Food animal diagnostic serology experience highly desired Skill & Ability to:
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Problem-solve. Follow standard operating procedure (SOP) protocols. Work safely with laboratory chemicals, materials, and specimens. Practice strong attention to detail. Work independently and as part of a team. Prioritize work to meet competing deadlines.
