OverviewSouth Dakota State University’s Dairy and Food Science Department is offering an exciting career opportunity as a Manager for the Davis Dairy Plant. This position will manage all operations of the dairy plant, supervise staff, purchase supplies and ingredients, and coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment and the facility. It is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
Key ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible for managing the Davis Dairy Plant (DDP) in a manner that ensures its sustainability as a resource for teaching, research, and hands- on experience. Responsibilities include ensuring the financial viability of the plant through the production of marketable products.
SalarySalary range: $70,000 - $85,000, depending on qualifications.

- Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Manufacturing, Food Science, or related field by start date.
- More than 3 up to 5 years of related experience, particularly working in a dairy or food processing plant.
- Hands- on experience working in a dairy processing facility, particularly in the formulation of ice cream, cheese making, and operations and maintenance of common dairy processing equipment.
- Must be qualified to obtain a milk pasteurizer’s license within 90 days of hire.
- At least one year of prior experience supervising employees or being a team lead.
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Master’s degree in Dairy Manufacturing, Food Science, or related field by start date.
