Position OverviewBowes Construction is seeking a dependable and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of construction equipment, trucks, and small engines. This role is critical to keeping our operations running efficiently and minimizing downtime during the construction season.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on heavy equipment and trucks.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment including loaders, skid steers, pavers, rollers, trucks, and trailers.
- Service diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and powertrain components.
- Maintain and repair small engines and shop equipment as needed.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and complete service documentation.
- Respond to field service calls and perform on-site repairs when necessary.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop and work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Previous experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic preferred.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Ability to diagnose issues and perform repairs independently.
- Experience with welding and fabrication is a plus.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
