South Dakota State University ( SDSU ) Student Life Building Services is looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a part time Senior Building Maintenance Worker within our University Housing department.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Job Responsibilities: The primary role of this position is to provide skilled support by way of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC , carpentry, and general maintenance for Housing and Residential life buildings and/or University Student Union/food service, as well as back up support for the Wellness Center. To be successful as a Senior Building Maintenance Worker, candidates should be self‑motivated, excel in customer service and practice strong attention to detail.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Methods and practices used in carpentry.
- Basic plumbing
- HVAC systems
- Basic electrical
- Paints and coatings
Skill & Ability to:
- Read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
- Operate various types of power and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Communicate clearly and concisely.
- Follow written and verbal directions.
- Interact effectively and professionally with contractors, coworkers, and customers.
Required License: Valid driver’s license is required.
Comments: This position requires occasional weekends/holidays.
Work Hours
M-F adjustable between 8am-4:30pm or M-F 8am-5pm
Hours will be determined at the time of hire.
