The Assistant Teacher in Kindergarten and ASP Instructor is a member of the School’s Lower Division and reports to the Lower Division head. This full-time, 10-month position, covering a family leave for the 2026-27 academic year, comes with the responsibility of working with faculty and staff to support the school’s mission and curricular goals.

Responsibilities Kindergarten Classroom
  • Support in the classroom on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 10:00 am-2:00 pm, and on Wednesdays 9:00 am-1:00 pm
  • Support the lead teacher in all aspects of the Kindergarten program
  • Assist with class transitions
  • Collaborate during planning times with classroom teacher
  • Assist with supervision of recess and lunch
  • Provide coverage for the lead teacher, when needed
  • Guide students in their social-emotional development, maintaining expectations and support for positive and productive student behavior
  • Participate in the school community, including faculty and committee work, weekly school duties, and activities such as (e.g., Grandparents & Special Friends Day, Yule festival, May Day etc.).
After-School Teacher
  • Work with the ASP team on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 2:00-6:00 pm, Wednesdays 1:00-6:00 pm, and Fridays 11:00 am-6:00 pm
  • Plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities for Lower Division ASP students (Pre Kindergarten-4th grade)
  • Guide students in their social-emotional development, maintaining expectations and support for positive and productive student behavior
  • Actively engage and interact with ASP students
  • Assure the safety and well-being of ASP students at all times
  • Regularly communicate with families, colleagues, and administrators regarding student’s development at ASP
  • Meet expectations as defined by the Park School Employee Essential Expectations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Experience teaching, preferably in Early Childhood
  • Demonstrated experience working in a culturally diverse community
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Creative problem‑solving skills, a positive attitude that allows one to cooperate and collaborate effectively with others
  • Motivation for and interest in professional development
  • High integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • The ability to effectively interpret, navigate, mediate, and resolve conflict in a timely manner
  • Proficient or the ability to learn Google tools and other applications as adopted by the school, such as Veracross, School Pass, Atlas etc.
Physical Requirements
  • The ability to sit and stand uninterrupted for 30 minute periods of time
  • The ability to regularly walk on and travel across variable surfaces (e.g. level flooring, stairs, turf, gravel, asphalt, etc.)
  • The ability to lead, supervise and accompany students to all areas of the school campus (including all indoor and outdoor areas), including during day-to-day responsibilities and in case of emergency.
  • The ability to regularly stand, sit, crouch, and kneel down in order to support students.
  • The ability to work outdoors, year-round, in variable weather conditions
  • The ability to lift and hold 15 lbs overhead.
  • The ability to occasionally transport (e.g., move or drag) 25 lbs.
  • The ability to maintain focus and composure in an energetic and, at times, loud environment
