Overview

The Theater Tech Coordinator is a member of the School’s Drama department and reports to the Division Heads. This full-time 10-month position comes with the responsibility of working with faculty and staff to support the school’s mission and curricular goals.

Responsibilities
  • Manage technical aspects of after-school productions: designing and building sets
  • Support AV/Tech Manager with hanging and writing light/sound cues, and teaching students how to run performances.
  • Catalog, organize, and maintain the theater's lighting instruments, sound equipment, boards, and tech booth.
  • Occasionally support the AV/Tech Manager with the lighting and sound as needed for Morning Meeting and additional gatherings, meetings, events, etc. in the theater
  • Support the AV/Tech Manager with the lighting and sound for major school events
  • Collaborate with the Drama Department Chair to organize and maintain the theater shop
  • Support drama electives as needed
  • Establish and implement expectations in the Theater Shop for student safety, conduct, procedures and routines, consistent with School policies
  • Collaborate with all Park School employees as appropriate
  • Participate in and contribute to an adult learning community by engaging in meetings, discussions, committees, task forces, and professional development.
  • Complete administrative tasks and coverage duties as assigned (student supervision, attendance, reporting, documenting curriculum, etc.)
  • Utilize feedback and reflection to improve practice and performance
  • Ensure that respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion, social-emotional learning, and academic excellence are emphasized as core values of the School
  • Participate in school community activities
  • Meet expectations as defined by the Park School Employee Essential Expectation
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Master’s Degree or additional specialized training preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of theater tech experience preferred.
  • Experience working with school-aged children is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with students, colleagues, and other adults
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working in a culturally diverse community
  • Motivation for and interest in professional development
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and learning
  • Previous experience and/or interest in athletic coaching or supporting student-led clubs, organizations, and events
  • High integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Maintain focus and adaptability in an energetic and, at times, loud environment
  • The ability to effectively interpret, navigate, mediate, and resolve conflicts with students and families in a timely manner.
  • The ability to hold meetings in person and via supported video conference tools (i.e. Zoom or Google Meet)
  • Proficient or the ability to learn Google tools and other applications as adopted by the school, such as Veracross, School Pass, Atlas etc.
Physical Requirements
  • The ability to sit and stand uninterrupted for 30-minute periods of time.
  • The ability to regularly walk on and travel across variable surfaces (e.g. level flooring, stairs, turf, gravel, asphalt, etc.).
  • The ability to lead, supervise, and accompany students to all areas of the school campus (including all indoor and outdoor areas), including during day-to-day responsibilities and in case of emergency.
  • The ability to regularly stand, sit, crouch, and kneel down in order to support students.
