Visual Arts Teacher; K-8

Job Description

The Visual Arts teacher will be responsible for organizing and maintaining a safe classroom environment and ensuring that the curriculum is aligned with the Public Schools of Brookline K‑8 Visual Arts Learning Expectations.

• Creating developmentally appropriate challenges, instruction and processes that require strong habits of mind, support diverse learning styles, and provide opportunities for students to work independently and collaboratively

• Highly qualified visual arts educator with strong studio skills
• Well‑developed understanding of the art‑making processes, qualities, and techniques to teach in a K‑8 elementary visual arts program
• Thorough knowledge of how diverse learners acquire and develop an understanding of the visual arts
• Ability to reflect on personal learning through the analysis of one’s teaching practice, student learning data, and the teaching practices of others
• Ability to be open to constructive critique of supervisors, administrators, and colleagues
• Ability to collaborate with all faculty
• Bachelor’s Degree
• DESE certification in Visual Arts, K‑8

• Master’s Degree
• Experience teaching Studio Habits of Mind
