Job DescriptionTorah Academy is more than a school. We are a community built around joyous, authentic Yiddishkeit and genuine care for every child. We are a community where every family is valued and where student successes are recognized and celebrated by everyone. At Torah Academy, education is about more than just academics. It’s also about fostering Jewish pride, love for learning, and sensitivity to others.
And mostly it’s about our students knowing that they, as individuals, matter.
We are currently seeking a dedicated, creative, and warm middle school humanities teacher for our boys division. This role is ideal for a current graduate student in education, someone interested in exploring becoming a teacher, or a recently retired teacher who isn’t quite ready to leave it all behind!
Responsibilities- Create a warm, caring, and safe environment. Students are at the heart of what we do. When they know that they are cared for, students come ready to learn. This includes building nurturing relationships with students and providing age‑appropriate levels of student supervision, classroom rules, and routines.
- Create and implement lesson plans. You will be responsible for teaching ELA and/or Social Studies to middle school boys. Our curriculum is aligned with Massachusetts state standards. Your creativity will shine in the activities you plan to engage student interest in the content as you build their critical reading, writing, and research skills.
- Monitor and communicate student progress. Provide feedback to students and their families on academic, social, and behavioral progress. Maintain appropriate records. Create two‑way communication channels with families so they are updated on their child’s progress.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.
- Prior successful experience with middle school students.
- Background in English Language Arts and/or History.
- A strong commitment to practicing differentiated instruction.
- Passionate about educating children.
- Creative and think outside the box when it comes to challenging young minds.
Location: Torah Academy is located in Brighton, Massachusetts.
Hours: Mondays-Thursdays 1:00-5:00 p.m., Fridays 12:00-1:30/2:30 p.m.
Salary: $24,000–$32,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: We believe in continuous learning and back that up with extensive professional‑development, growth, and advancement opportunities for our staff. Plus we have small class sizes, a close knit community driven by a love of learning, early release on Fridays, and time off for national and Jewish holidays.
Job Requirements- Bachelor degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
