Position: After School Teacher (ASP)

The Park School is a Pre‑K to Grade 8 independent school located in Brookline, MA. After‑School Teacher – Overview

The After‑School Teacher is a member of the school’s after‑school program and reports to the Director of After‑School Operations. This part‑time, 10‑month position requires working Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 2:00‑6:00 PM, Wednesday 1:00‑6:00 PM, and Friday 11:00‑6:00 PM. The teacher supports the school’s mission and curricular goals, balancing academic excellence with learning through play and addressing the social‑emotional needs of students.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and implement age‑appropriate lessons and activities for ASP students in the Lower Division.
  • Guide students in their social‑emotional development while maintaining expectations and supporting positive behavior.
  • Actively engage and interact with ASP students to foster a safe, supportive learning environment.
  • Assure the safety and well‑being of ASP students at all times.
  • Regularly communicate with families, colleagues, and administrators regarding students’ development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and meet expectations defined by the Park School Employee Essential Expectations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience teaching early childhood.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in teaching and learning within a culturally diverse community.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience writing student comments, parent communications, and school‑related documents.
  • Creative problem‑solving skills and a positive attitude that promote effective collaboration.
  • Motivation for and interest in professional development.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to interpret, navigate, mediate, and resolve conflict in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency or ability to learn Google tools and other applications adopted by the school (e.g., Veracross, Atlas).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and stand uninterrupted for 30‑minute periods.
  • Ability to traverse variable surfaces (e.g., floor, stairs, turf, gravel, asphalt).
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and accompany students across all school campus areas, including indoors and outdoors during day‑to‑day responsibilities and emergencies.
  • Ability to position oneself (stand, sit, crouch, kneel) to support students.
  • Ability to work outdoors year‑round in variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and hold 15 lb(s) overhead.
  • Ability to occasionally move or drag 25 lb(s).
  • Ability to maintain focus and composure in an energetic, sometimes loud environment.
Compensation

The compensation for this role is $26.71 hourly. Comprehensive compensation details, inclusive of any additional benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.
