Position: After School Teacher (ASP)

About the Position

The After‑School Teacher is a member of the school’s after‑school program and reports to the Director of After‑School Operations. This part‑time, 10‑month position includes responsibilities such as working with faculty and staff to support the school’s mission and curricular goals. Hours are 2:00‑6:00 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; 1:00‑6:00 on Wednesday; and 11:00‑6:00 on Friday. The position requires expertise in the social and emotional needs of this age group and the ability to balance encouraging academic excellence and intellectual growth with the importance of learning through play.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and implement age‑appropriate lessons and activities for ASP students in the Lower Division.
  • Guide students in their social‑emotional development, maintaining expectations and support for positive and productive student behavior.
  • Actively engage and interact with ASP students.
  • Assure the safety and well‑being of ASP students at all times.
  • Regularly communicate with families, colleagues, and administrators regarding students’ development at ASP.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Meet expectations as defined by the Park School Employee Essential Expectations.
Physical Requirements
  • The ability to sit and stand uninterrupted for 30‑minute periods.
  • The ability to traverse on and across variable surfaces (level flooring, stairs, turf, gravel, asphalt, etc.).
  • The ability to lead, supervise and accompany students to all areas of the school campus, including during day‑to‑day responsibilities and in case of emergency.
  • The ability to position oneself (stand, sit, crouch, kneel) in order to support students.
  • The ability to work outdoors, year‑round, in variable weather conditions.
  • The ability to lift and hold 15 lbs overhead.
  • The ability to occasionally move or drag 25 lbs.
  • The ability to maintain focus and composure in an energetic and, at times, loud environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Experience teaching Early Childhood.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in teaching and learning; experience in working in a culturally diverse community.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience in writing student comments, communications to parents, and other school‑related documents.
  • Creative problem‑solving skills and a positive attitude that allow one to cooperate and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Motivation for and interest in professional development.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • The ability to effectively interpret, navigate, mediate, and resolve conflict in a timely manner.
  • Proficient or the ability to learn Google tools and other applications adopted by the school such as Veracross, Atlas, etc.
Compensation

Compensation for this role is $26.71 hourly. Additional benefits will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.
