Job Description Who We Are Looking For:

We are searching for a Special Education Teacher passionate about helping others by working with our youth.

Bay Cove Academy is a therapeutic day school that specializes in trauma‑informed services for students ages 12‑22 with complex trauma histories, mental health issues, educational challenges, and/or behavioral difficulties. It offers students a supportive environment that addresses their education, clinical, pre‑vocational, recreational, and behavioral needs. Individual, group, nursing, and milieu counseling are provided.

What You'll Do:

We are seeking a highly organized and professional licensed teacher with experience teaching middle and high school‑aged students. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, patient, and have experience teaching content‑area subjects while utilizing the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework. They will work with students in a clinically appropriate manner while maintaining a challenging learning environment. Experience teaching in an alternative school setting is preferred.

Bay Cove Academy uses an interdisciplinary approach, working collaboratively with the educational, clinical, nursing, and vocational departments.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $52,000 to $94,000 per year. This range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, licensure, certifications, and qualifications. The range may be modified in the future.

Requirements
  • Massachusetts teaching certification by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Knowledge of the needs of the population served; understanding of the range of interventions and treatments required by this population.
  • Acceptable CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and OIG background check.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and leadership abilities.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.
