Family And Community Engagement Advisor

Family and Community Engagement Advisor is responsible for developing and implementing district-wide family engagement programming and activities that create strong support for parents and caregivers. The Brookline METCO Family and Community Engagement leader will collaborate with families, schools, and community stakeholders to ensure that students are meeting success both academically and socially.

Qualifications:

Currently employed by the Public Schools of Brookline

Experience organizing family programming for students and families in K-12

Major

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Coordinate events and celebrations including culturally diverse activities that affirm the international heritage of all students and their families
• Create and maintain relationships with community partners
• Coordinate Community Lounge Events
• Support the Brookline METCO Parent Advisory Group
• Attend METCO Parent Advisory Group monthly meetings
• Support in the planning of summer programming
• Establish and maintain consistent, effective and timely communication with families in a variety of ways
• Assist families in accessing appropriate resources that will support their child's learning
• Serve as mediator when necessary, using strategies to bring family conflicts to resolution
• Build and strengthen relationships with local community partners
• Improve parents' levels of trust and support for their school by using proactive strategies to build relationships with parents and facilitate relationship building between school and home
• Enhance families' capacity to support their children's learning and serve as leaders in their children's school.
• Work with staff, families and community organizations to create a school environment that is consistently welcoming to families
• Track family engagement data
• Support district-wide family engagement events
• Collaborate with enrichment partners to ensure smooth coordination of afternoon services and activities
