Activity Therapist

Activity Therapist – Full Time

HRI Hospital is seeking an Activity Therapist for our inpatient psychiatric units. This is a highly satisfying opportunity for a clinical professional who thrives on providing highly individualized care to a very acute patient population. This is a full‑time, 40‑hour per week position.

• Facilitate assigned treatment groups to meet the needs of various functioning levels and/or diagnostic categories.
• Utilize interviewing techniques, observations, formal and informal screening/evaluation tools to assess functional level of patients.
• Identify patients’ assets and problem areas.
• Collaborate with patients in goal‑setting.
• Collaborate with the inter‑disciplinary team.
• Recommend appropriate activities for goal attainment and assist patients to select appropriate groups and activities.
• Complete daily notes for each group.
• If needed, help support the inpatient SW department with facilitating groups, completing clinical assessments, and discharge planning.

• Education:
  
  Master’s in human services related field required. Art therapy, music therapy or other expressive therapy specialty preferred, or a bachelor’s degree + MT‑BC.
• License: LCSW, LMHC, LICSW, or OT preferred.
• Experience:
  
  One year prior inpatient clinical experience preferred; six months prior experience as a group leader preferred.
