Mental Health Advocate – Dual Diagnosis Unit, Part Time Day Shift

This is a 24‑hour per week, day‑shift position on HRI Hospital's Dual Diagnosis Unit. The schedule is every Monday and Thursday plus every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Prior substance‑use patient population experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor patient safety on the inpatient psychiatric units
  • Assist nursing staff with patient treatment procedures
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living
  • Provide routine patient care as required in a psychiatric environment
  • Document and communicate unusual or erratic changes in client behaviors
  • Assist with patient groups and activities

Qualifications
  • High School diploma and a minimum of 3 years of psychiatric experience
  • Or bachelor’s degree in human services or current student pursuing a bachelor’s degree and 1 year of psychiatric experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Physical fitness – must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be comfortable working with patients in acute psychiatric distress
  • Prior experience with dual diagnosis / substance‑use patient population is preferred
