Description
In performing assigned tasks and duties, all employees of Dexter Southfield are expected to demonstrate quality work and meet deadlines (with or without direct supervision); interact professionally with students, parents, faculty, staff, and others; work effectively as individual and team contributors on all assignments; and communicate and coordinate efforts with colleagues and other stakeholders that align with the School’s mission and values.
Those working in teaching roles are also expected to demonstrate effective classroom management skills and deliver quality academic instruction to ensure student success.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide comprehensive athletic training services to student-athletes, in collaboration with the Head Athletic Trainer, team physicians, and other healthcare professionals, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and return-to-play management.
- Provide immediate first aid and emergency care for injuries and medical emergencies in accordance with established Emergency Action Plans and professional standards.
- Evaluate athletic injuries and illnesses, determine appropriate initial management and disposition, and coordinate referral to physicians, specialists, emergency services, or other healthcare providers when indicated.
- Apply appropriate preventive and rehabilitative taping, bracing, protective equipment, manual techniques, and other interventions within the scope of athletic training.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment and rehabilitation programs for acute, chronic, and recurrent injuries.
- Maintain the Athletic training room equipment, supply levels, and cleanliness of facilities required to carry out duties
- Maintain records of the injury tracking of all athletes
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality when discussing, in any form, information about students
- Provide athletic training coverage for practices, competitions, tournaments, and other athletic events as assigned, including home and away competitions, based on sport, venue, risk, and event requirements.
- Coordinate care with team physicians, orthopedic specialists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to support continuity of care.
- Maintain the athletic training facility, medical equipment, supplies, treatment areas, first aid kits, AEDs, ice coolers, and emergency equipment in a safe, clean, organized, and adequately stocked condition.
- Monitor environmental conditions and implement appropriate heat, cold, lightning, air-quality, and other weather-related safety procedures in accordance with school policy.
- Collaborate with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, athletic department personnel, and school administrators to promote safe participation and appropriately manage student-athlete injuries and medical needs
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or equivalent
- NATA BOC certified
- AT Licensure by the Board of Allied Health in the Commonwealth of MA
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other database programs used to maintain student health records such as SNAP and Sportsware
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and manage competing priorities while maintaining a professional attitude
- Ability to troubleshoot emergency situations
- Demonstrated ability in the areas of judgment, discretion, and confidentiality
- Willingness to work as a team player and individual contributor
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines with maximum precision and minimal supervision
